Build a full-year cost example

Fictional Supplier B quotes $140 per cylinder, $55 annual rental for each cylinder and $15 per delivery. With four separate deliveries, the total is $560 plus $110 plus $60, or $730. The lower advertised gas price produces the higher annual total in this example.

Ask about normal ordering lead times, local delivery days and the procedure when you approach the end of your supply. Confirm access instructions and whether someone must be present. An attractive quote is less useful if the service arrangement does not suit your property.

Do not deliberately run out to discover how the system works. Have the supplier explain the installed changeover arrangement and safe customer checks. Do not move connected cylinders, alter fittings or test for leaks with a flame. Installation and gas-system work belong with appropriately qualified people.

If you smell gas or suspect a leak, follow the supplier’s emergency guidance and obtain urgent help where needed. A price comparison is never a reason to keep using equipment you believe is unsafe.
